As quickly as the fast paced virtual world of the internet is evolving we understand that it may be difficult to understand some of the terminology provided on this website. As a result, we have provided definitions to much of the terminology found here on this website in order to help you understand what we do and the information we are trying to convey.

• Domain Name
  In a nutshell, everything on the internet has an address (just like your home has a street address). This address is called an "IP Address". IP Addresses are very long series of numbers and can be quite difficult to remember for the average person. Much like vanity phone numbers, Domain Names were created to provide an easy mechanism to remember the address of places on the internet, where vanity phone numbers were designed as an easy mechanism to remember a company or person's phone number. Rather than visit Websites by their IP Address which are difficult to remember, we use their associated Domain Name. Many people will just "type-in" a Domain Name into their web browser when they are looking for something on the internet, even if they don't know if a website exists at that Domain Name, based on the assumption that if they are looking for Shoes, they will probably find what they are looking for at Shoes.com. For an example, you can go to the IP Address http://74.125.45.100, but it is much easier to remember to go to http://www.google.com which is the same thing. As compared to traditional Real Estate a Domain Name is like the land that a house or other property is built on. Given how unique each Domain Name is, how likely internet users are to type in a Domain Name as a method of search, and the incredible branding potential behind each name, there is a considerable value to this type of property.
• Website
  When compared to traditional Real Estate, a website is essentially the structure that is built on top of the land, or Domain Name (see above). Just like there are many different types of structures that can be built on real land, there are several different types of websites that can be built on the virtual land of a Domain Name. Examples include e-commerce sites, blogs, social networking sites, directories, engines, tools, informational websites, and much more.
• The World Wide Web
  Believe it or not, the internet has a lot more going on than just all these websites you've been to or have heard about. The World Wide Web refers to just one small corner of the internet that contains all the websites. Domain Names not only apply to the World Wide Web, but to every aspect of the internet. Examples include FTP, email, telnet, and basically anything you need to know an IP Address for, you can you a Domain Name in its place.

• Cybersquatting
  Cybersquatting is the act of registering a Domain Name with the bad faith intent to profit from the goodwill of the registered trademark of another. This includes profiting from selling the infringing Domain Name, or even by parking it, or by any other means of profit. ITZnames inc. is very strongly against this practice, we do not cybersquat on anyone's trademark. If for some reason you believe that the content on one of our sites or that one of our Domain Names is in conflict with your Official Government Trademark please contact us for further discussion.
• Traffic
  Ever heard the term "walk in traffic" referring to the customers that walk into your retail store off the street? Well, Traffic regarding Domain Names is very similar. With Domain Names traffic is the flow of people from the internet to your Domain Name. A good generic Domain Name typically has a certain amount of organic/built-in type-in traffic. This type-in traffic is traffic derived from people on the internet simply typing your Domain Name directly into their browser instead of searching on a search engine such as Yahoo or Google. This type-in traffic is a much more targeted form of search, and subsequently is one the several reasons that our generic Domain Names are so valuable. Put another way, Traffic is the Eyeballs that see your website every day, and the more eyeballs you have the more valuable your Domain Name is.
• Direct Navigation
  The term "Direct Navigation" refers to the act of typing in a Domain Name directly into a web browser in order to navigate to a particular Domain Name / website. Direct Navigation is also referred to as type-in traffic. Direct navigation is a more targeted form of search and is one the several reasons that generic Domain Names are so valuable. You simply would never receive any type-in or Direct Navigation traffic on a non generic Domain Name like "google.com" without first spending Millions of marketing dollars to train the public to do so.
• Search Engines
  Examples of popular search engines are Google and Yahoo. A search engine is just another place people go to search the internet for your website. People enter keywords into the search box at the search engine and the search engine outputs a list of results that it thinks are most relevant to the keywords specified. Having a good generic Domain Name comprised of the same keywords a user searches for in the search engine has a dramatic effect on your position in the search results at these search engines. Search engine placement based on your Domain Name is yet another reason that a good generic keyword based Domain Name is so valuable.
• Parked Pages
  A Parked Page is a temporary web page put in place on a Domain Name rather than have nothing at all while the domain has not yet been developed into a functioning website. A Parked Page typically contains sponsored links to the websites of advertisers from which the owner of the Domain Name actually gets paid in return for each time a visitor to the Parked Page clicks. These Parked Pages are typically provided by one of the major search engines such as Google or Yahoo, or one of their downstream partners. Some Domain Name registrars will automatically park your domain name even if you don't upon registering it with them, of course it is better if you Park your domain name yourself so you get paid for the clicks rather than your Domain Name registrar. In some rare cases a simple Parked Page is even the Highest and Best Use for a Domain Name. That means that the Domain Name generates the more revenue as a Parked Page than via any other avenue with little or no effort. Typically however, with a little hard work developing a website you can outperform the revenue of a parked page. Of course development is easier for some than others, so this is really more of a personal decision.
